Roaches/Ants

 German Cockroach

Size- About 1/2 inch in length.

Color- Brown with two dark longitudinal strips on the shield.

Behavior- The German cockroach is a fast breeder. One egg capsule contains up to 40 eggs and can reach adult as little as 45 days.

Habitat- Found in homes and restaurants, especially around moist areas like the kitchen and bathroom. The German roach can also be found in dry storage areas, garages, and any place they can seek harborage.

 

Oriental Coackroach

Size- Both male and female are about one inch in length.

Color- The female in all black. The male is black with two brown wings.

Behavior- The Oriental cockroach is an occasional invader, seeking to come inside when living conditions are harsh outside.

Habitat- Typically found in sewers, storm drains, and floor drains. Found in basements and crawls spaces in structures.

 

American Cockroach

Size- Up to 2 inches long.

Color- Reddish brown.

Behavior- This roach in omnivorous and will eat almost anything.

Habitat- This American cockroach thrives in warm, damp places, such as sewers, steam rooms, basements and boiler rooms. They are typically found outside, but will invade inside structures during extreme climate changes.

 

Argentine Ant

Size- About 1/8 inch in length.

Color- Varies from dark brown to black. The body is shiny in appearance.

Behavior- Argentine ant clonies can grow quite large. Colonies contain tens of thousand of workers and numerous queens. They are attracted to fruit trees, roses, and other plants.

Habitat- Argentine ants live outdoors, underneath the soil. Their nests are found in gardens and planter areas, but may nest in other suitable dirt areas if there is a regular food source.

 

Fire Ant

Size- Workers can range in size from 1/8 to 3/8 inch in length.

Color- Reddish brown.

Behavior- The Fire Ant will sting an animal or person if it is threaten. The sting is usually painful, but multiple stings can be a more serious problem.

Habitat- The Fire Ant usually is found around the yard. The nest is underground and can be spotted with mounds of dirt. Fire Ants usually don't enter stucutures, but may under extreme climate changes.
